Project overview
The water security project will improve water availability and resilience for the community.
The community faces many challenges that impact their water security. These include high salts, low groundwater availability and increasing housing demand.
The project will supplement and expand the existing water supply by:
- drilling and installing 3 extra bores
- designing and constructing supporting infrastructure and systems at the bore sites
- connecting to existing water infrastructure.
It is expected the improved water security will have economic and social impacts supporting:
- community facilities and services
- better health and housing
- community growth.
The community's water network will become more resilient with increased groundwater supply. The community will be better prepared for high demand periods and severe climate conditions.
The project contributes toward the Australian Government’s commitment to Close the Gap on water security for First Nations communities.
