The project will deliver pipelines and pump stations to both the east and west Tamar regions.

This project will support the deliver of in excess of 11,000ML of high reliability irrigation water. To the west of the Tamar River, the scheme will make water available between Beauty Point and Carrick, including Rosevale, Legana, Exeter, Bridgenorth and Flowery Gully. To the east, the scheme will make water available to an area including Hillwood, Karoola, Pipers Brook and Weymouth.

Who's involved

The Australian Government and Tasmanian Government are jointly funding the project with the Australian Government providing $12.5 million. Findings of the Detailed Business Case process will inform the final cost of the project.

Australian Government Funding source

Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.

Project status

Planning is underway. Final delivery timeframes will be informed by the Detailed Business Case. Construction is currently expected to commence in mid 2023 and to be completed in mid 2025.
