Nyngan to Cobar Pipeline business case
The detailed business case will take the Nyngan to Cobar pipeline project to the next stage, capturing detailed designs, stakeholder engagement and environmental assessments to ensure continued water security and reliability for the Cobar region. Located in central western New South Wales, Cobar is approximately 160 kilometres south of Bourke and 260 kilometres east of Wilcannia with a local economy underpinned by the mining of gold and other precious metals.
The business case for the Nyngan to Cobar Pipeline will include:
- preliminary geotechnical investigations;
- detailed concept design;
- environmental and heritage assessments;
- community/stakeholder engagement; and
- procurement strategy and cost estimates.
The detailed business case is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($1 million) and the New South Wales Government ($1.2 million).
Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The business case is expected to be finalised by NSW in the coming months.
