New Water Infrastructure to Barossa

The project would aim to increase water treatment capacity at an existing treatment plant, install new water storage, construct pipeline and pumping infrastructure and augment existing distribution networks to enable recycled water use in the Barossa.
The project aims to secure the region's water resources to support existing primary industry viticulture, wine production and jobs in the region. It will also provide access to an additional 8 GL per annum of high-quality recycled water to the Barossa region.
The detailed business case will:
- assess the options to date and recommend an option for implementation.
- propose a funding approach.
- suggest a preferred delivery and procurement approach.
The $5.1 million project is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($3.5 million) and the South Australian Government ($1.6 million).
Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The project is underway, with the detailed business case expected to be completed in late 2022.
