McLaren Vale Irrigation Water Security
The project will investigate the viability of constructing a new reservoir, with a capacity of up to 1,350ML, and upgrading the existing recycled water network.
If built, the project could supply an estimated 750ML of recycled water to meet demand from irrigation in the region. It would be expected to generate up to $100 million in economic activity and support up to 300 jobs.
The detailed business case will:
- assess local demand;
- undertake site investigations and geotechnical analysis; and
- develop infrastructure concept designs.
The $500,000 project is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($470,000) and the other partners ($30,000).
Australian Government funding will be provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The project is currently in the planning stage.
