The project will investigate the viability of constructing a new reservoir, with a capacity of up to 1,350 ML, and upgrading the existing recycled water network.

If built, the project could supply an estimated 750 ML of recycled water to meet demand from irrigation in the region. It would be expected to generate up to $100 million in economic activity and support up to 300 jobs.

The detailed business case will:

  • assess local demand
  • undertake site investigations and geotechnical analysis
  • develop infrastructure concept designs.
Who's involved

The $500,000 project is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($470,000) and the other partners ($30,000).

Australian Government Funding source

Australian Government funding will be provided through the National Water Grid Fund.

Project status

The project is underway, with the detailed business case expected to be completed mid 2023.
