Macalister Irrigation District Modernisation Phase 1B Project
The project upgraded the Southern-Tinamba Supply Zone by replacing the upper channel system with a gravity pipeline and automation and modernisation of the lower channel system.
The project has improved water efficiency through reduced losses, as well as increased water availability and security through the creation of an additional 9,700ML of water for productive use.
The $60 million project was jointly funded by the Australian Government ($20 million), the Victorian Government ($20 million) and other partners ($20 million).
Australian Government funding was provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
Construction was completed in November 2020.
