Lostock Dam to Glennies Creek Dam Pipeline

The project will complete a detailed business case to investigate the merits of constructing a two-way pipeline and pumping infrastructure to connect two variable rainfall regions and improve water reliability.
If built, the proposed project would connect two headwater water storages, Lostock Dam and Glennies Creek Dam. The objective of the proposed pipeline is to improve the existing system and support the ongoing economic productivity of key industries and water users operating in the Hunter region.
The detailed business case will include:
- Detailed technical and commercial studies.
- Completion of the NSW Government infrastructure investment gateway review process.
- Environmental studies and approvals.
- Investment approvals.
The detailed business case is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($11.1 million) and the New South Wales Government with other partners ($2.5 million)
Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The project is underway, with the business case expected to be completed in mid-2024.
