The project involves returning the Manton Dam to service. This will involve upgrading existing infrastructure and building the first phase of the Strauss Water Treatment Plan and distribution network.
The project also involves preconstruction activities for Adelaide River Off-Stream Water Storage (AROWS) project. This includes environmental impact assessment, pre-tender concept design, delivery model assessment, and re-confirmation of financial and economic outcomes.
The project will enable an additional 14 GL of usable water storage capacity and make 7.3 GL per annum available for productive use.
The $324.1 million project is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($300.6 million) and the Northern Territory Government ($23.5 million).
Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The project is currently in the planning stage.
