Clare Valley Water Supply Preliminary Business Case
The project will complete a preliminary business case to investigate the delivery of new water distribution infrastructure in the Clare Valley region, including a 45-50km trunk main and pumping system.
The project would increase water availability by an estimated 4,000ML per year, promoting growth and increased yields in the region. These benefits would result in improved annual harvest from an average of 20,000-25,000 tonnes to 30,000 tonnes by 2030.
The preliminary business case will include:
- engineering research and environmental assessment;
- economic, financial and demand analysis; and
- review of funding options.
The $0.8 million project is funded by the Australian Government.
Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
The project is currently in the planning stage, with the preliminary business case expected to be completed in July 2022.
